Dear Diary,
Today is V-E Day. Today is the day that Europe has won. The Germans are defeated with unconditional surrender and the allied troops can go home after a hard 6 years of fighting.
The Allied troops made it in Berlin and then the Germans had to surrender. They had very little troops and they were scrapping the bottom of the barrel making teenagers fight this war. Hitler committed suicide when he found out that the allied forces were just outside Berlin and that he was going to lose.
We finally won the war after six years of hard fighting. All of Europe is in rubble cause of this war, many soldier lost their lives in battles, million of dollars worth of equipment and homes were used.
It was truly a World War!

June 6, 1944

Dear Diary,
I am writing this diary entry in Normandy after landing on the beaches. We successful made it to our objective and the battle for the allies was a success. We left England for Normandy and there we landed on the beaches. As soon as we landed, there was machine gun fire all around us and many of the soldiers were killed before they even touched French soil.
We Canadians were assigned to Juno beach our own beach. The Americans and the British were also fighting on different beaches. This was one of the hugest attacks that any side has made in a war. We quickly made our way to the beaches and there we ambushed the German’s bunker. Somehow there were very little German reinforcements. I later found out that the Germans were expecting an attack on Calais, France, but the real attack came in Normandy. The officers in Normandy were calling for back up but were denied because the Nazis taught that the allies’ real attack would be coming soon. We made our way inland and started our trek upwards toward Belgium and to Berlin.
We were hoping and praying that the Germans wouldn’t find out because if they did we would have been killed as they had an advantage because they were on higher ground then the beaches we were in. We were lucky that they did not find out.
In the end, we got 150,000 troops into France plus we got a lot of equipment on to the Normandy. It was an amazing success for the allied forces.

August 20, 1942

Dear Diary,
After finally waiting for two years in England, the Canadian troops got a mission to do called Dieppe. We were told that we would be coming from England and going to Dieppe, France to get the major port there and hold the port for a short period of time.
As we reached the shores of Dieppe, there was a lot of machine gun fire and bombs exploding. We left England and made our way over to Dieppe, but the mission was terrible executed because we landed later than we were supposed to land. That gave the Germans an advantage when it came time to fight because they were ready for us. As soon as we got out of the boat we were taking machine gun fire. Many of our crew was killed. Of the 50 of us that came by boat only 6 of us made it to the beaches. This was a terrible loss for us and we needed to find a way to overcome this loss.
We finally reached the beaches, but we were so outnumbered that we didn’t stand a chance. The Germans took all 6 of us down one by one. Luckily, I got shot in the leg and I pretended to be dead on the floor until help came. I am writing this in the hospital in Manchester, England.
I read in the newspaper that no army division made it to their objective. The Canadians were slaughtered in this battle and army equipment such as tanks and car were destroyed. It stated that half of the Canadian army sent to Dieppe was killed in the battle. The newspaper says that Dieppe was the worst mistake by any army in a war.
I am lucky that I had taught quickly on the spot, otherwise I wouldn’t be here today. The allies will learn from this mistake and make a mission where Germany wouldn’t be prepared to fight.

December 4, 1939

Dear Diary,
World War Two has just started a couple of months ago when Hitler invaded Poland without listening to the allied forces warning. It didn’t take anyone by surprise because we knew that another war would happen when Germany took over the Rhineland back and no one did anything to stop them. What surprised everyone was how Hitler’s Nazis defeated France in two months. Two months! France has one of the strongest armies in Europe and they were no match for Germany.
I am extremely happy that there is war because I signed with the Canadian army and I will get paid money to fight for them. It had been rough these couple of years, hard to find jobs to make some money, but by joining the army you have a job with steady pay. I will be leaving Canada in February after I finish my training.
The Nazis came into power fairly easy. They took advantage of the depression and how it was affecting the German population. Hitler promised to make Germany prosper again. Most of the leaders of the world liked Hitler and how he was restoring Germany back to the way it was. But then Hitler conquered the Rhineland and the League of Nations did not do anything. He then conquered Czechoslovakia but was warned that if he tries to conquer Poland then England would declare war on Germany. He attacked Poland and then England and France declared war on Germany.
I hope that we win this war because England is the only ally left in Europe and Germany’s territory has expanded a lot. If England loses the war Germany might get world domination.

November 15, 1934

Dear Diary,
One day I shuffled through my diary entries and the page turned to September 29, 1929. I just took a moment and read what I had written for that day. I never made enough money to pay the landlord because I couldn’t find a job and got evicted from my apartment.
I started living on the streets, eating garbage as my food and hiding from the police so I wouldn’t go to jail for not having a job. I lost my brand new model T after the stockbroker started saying that he would press charges for not paying the money I owe him. Then one person that I had got acquainted with, told me of how jobless men board the trains and go from one city to another looking for jobs. He used the term “riding the rails” to describe what they were doing.
I decided that this was the only way that I would get a job. I boarded a train going to Vancouver in search of hoping to get a job. There I found a mining job but with very little pay and lots of labour involved with the job. After a few weeks, they had to close down saying that they were going bankrupt and could pay workers.
I decided again to board a train but this time to go to Ottawa to protest about the work conditions and the little pay that we men get. Just a few years ago we were living like Lords with lots of money to spend and jobs were easy to find. But now we are beggars, panhandling and boarding cargo train in search of jobs around the country.
I am writing this entry while sitting on the train to Ottawa waiting to protest about unfair work conditions. I hope that everything goes well and that the government of Canada will give us better pay and work conditions.

September 29, 1929

Dear Diary,
Today is the worst day of my life because the stock market crashed. I am losing my possessions by the second because of this crisis. You can hear in my apartment building all the noise the stockbrokers are making, knocking on peoples’ doors and telling them to pay what they owe for the stocks. The stockbrokers are panicking because they have lost so much money when the stocks had crashed. Man, if only I knew this was going to happen to me, I would have sold my stocks a lot sooner.
For a few days now, the newspaper had reported that the stocks are overpriced and they will crash soon. No one knew that it would crash this dramatic and everyone was taken by surprise. I was told by a friend who had gone to the stock market today that he noticed that all the people started selling their stocks because the stocks were rapidly decreasing. He got out quickly after seeing the stocks starting to fall and lost $250.
In total I have lost lost $1000 in money in the stocks, and that is not all I have lost. Now my stockbroker has sent a letter saying that he wants me to pay for the stocks that I bought on margin. I had put my new model T car for collateral. I will be very sad if they take it away because it had taken me five years of saving money just to buy this car. I also received an eviction notice saying that if I don’t pay the $30 rent by tomorrow, I will be kicked out of my apartment.
What will I do to pay the rent, now it is hard to find a job because many factories are closing due to bankruptcy? Also my family has called me saying that they need money because it is all gone because of this crisis. I hope that tomorrow, I can find a job to make some money towards the rent.

Essay on Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is considered to be one of the smartest people of all time. His father Leopold Mozart already knew “that this genius is the mark of divine favor, so to be received and guided” (Davenport 8). With an IQ of 165, he is among one of the greats like Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci. In “The Art of a Genius: Eight ways to think like Einstein” by Michael Michalko, he explains all the traits that you need to have to be a genius. The traits that Michalko explains in his story are the same traits that are found in Mozart. The traits that are connected between Mozart and the story are that: geniuses make their thought visible and geniuses produce.
Music makes the people think what the composer is trying to say by listening to the music. Each piece of music has a different story, just like how each book has a different story. Writing music is similar to writing a book, it has its big climax near the end and resolution to finish it off. At the age of four, when Mozart played a third on the piano, he felt happy and he wanted to bring that same joy to people around the world. As a composer, you make your thoughts and feelings visible on every composition that you write. Mozart did this every time with every piece of music that he wrote. In his song, “Alla Turca”, it has different varieties of music portrayed in the song. The beginning starts off very cheerful and fast. Then in the middle of the song, it goes up and down in sound. The ending is big and magical, like if you were in a carnival.
From the time he composed his first piece of music at the age of nine, Mozart produced many songs throughout his whole life. In all, Mozart composed over 600 compositions, and he only lived to be 35. Mozart even tried completing compositions when he was terribly sick and on his deathbed he tried and finished his last composition “Requiem”, but passed away before he could finish it.
Mozart is one of the smartest being of all time because of his capability to make music throughout his whole life. He capability of thinking is up there with Leonardo Da Vinci and Albert Einstein. His dad knew when he was little that Mozart would be great and be a musical phenomenon. He has these traits that are related to Mr. Michalko story, so Mozart should not only be considered a genius, but a musical powerhouse of all time.

Burnout Paradise for the PC

A year after coming to the consoles, Burnout Paradise is coming to the PC for the first time.

The burnout franchise is a series that contains fast paced racing with cars having a rag doll affect when they crash into another car or into a wall. What makes the burnout franchise so great is the amazing special effects integrated in the games that make it a very realistic game.

Burnout Paradise takes place in Paradise City, which has more than 250 miles. Electronic Arts changed all the features in Burnout to make it more next generation quality. One of the new features added to Burnout Paradise is that when you take a person down or make them crash in online play, a picture is taken of them at that same time. You keep the picture of their face at the time of the collisions which make this game good to play. Also there is a change between night and day added to the game. Criterion games also put an update which enables players that bought the game to drive motorcycles instead of cars around Paradise City.

The console versions were excellent. Having played Burnout Paradise on the PS3, it has incredible game play and you feel as if you're in the car, racing down the streets. There are so many modes that are included and many more will be featured in the PC version. The game also makes people aware of the dangers that could happen if you race as you see your state of your car in slow motion after a crash has happen to you.

However, with this entire buzz with the console versions of the game, I can't wait to play Burnout Paradise on the PC and see the amazing world and graphics. Great Games in 2008, But What About Now?

With all the hit releases in 2008, What Is Yet to come in The New Year?

In 2008, we saw many hit games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Metal Gear Solid 4, Fable 2, Little Big Planet and Grand Theft Auto 4 it made me wonder what was in store for 2009. After a bit of research, here are some of the games to look out for in the year 2009.

* Skate 2 - This is the second game in the skate series and is a sequel to the first. It involves player to use the environment given as a big skate park. It has now more than double the amount of tricks that can be performed in the first game.

* Saints Row 2 - For the PC. This game is like GTA (Grand Theft Auto) both having a sandbox type world and both involving gangs and shooting. Even though the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were reported to have many bugs, I think THQ and Volition will fix these problems for the PC version.

* F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin - This time instead of being Point man you are a delta force operator who is sent thirty minutes before the ending of F.E.A.R. to arrest Genevieve Aristide. Even though you are a different character, players will get the ability to use the slow motion feature shown in the first game, later on as the game progresses.

* Street Fighter IV - Street Fighter 4 contains the characters fighting in a 2D environment, like the previous versions of the game. However, the characters in the game are in 3D. It has given a makeover in game play, now including things like focus attacks (your character absorbs an attack and then does a counterattack against the other player) and Super Combos shown in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

* Resident Evil 5 - Taking place 10 years after the first Resident Evil, you play as a man named Chris Redfield. Throughout the game, it will give players answers a more indepth explanation on the orgin of the virus.
